Self image vs. reality
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
Home office. Nice People.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
People come for the job and leave because of leadership style.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Useless to point that out, the part of the leadership who is in charge is resistant to advice.
Try less ego, less hype, less love bombing, more eye level and down to earth.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Nice young people to work with, some colleagues a bit dishonest. Always on your toes when dealing with parts of management since top-down hierarchy.
Rest is due to the condition of the customer.
Kommunikation
Mostly friendly, information given is often not reliable. Bait & switch tactics by management.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Overall helpful and friendly.
Work-Life-Balance
Due to customer requirements. Employees overloaded with responsibilites after a very short time without a corresponding benefit. It's a startup so you are expected to bring high return on investment without the company having appropriate resources to support your professional development.
Some colleagues were clever and never showed their 100% but only gave 60% because management will expect your 100% to be the everyday norm.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Management has several people in the leadership on paper but in reality sadly only one of them makes the decisions in a top-down style and can get a little threatening if you set healthy boundaries. Sort of love bombing in the job interview phase then quickly expects you to take responsibilities that aren't part of the work contract and that don't align with what was promised in the first place. If you don't obey as their grateful yay sayers you will be blamed and gaslighted. Seeks followership over creativity and technical edge. When their bait & switch tactics shows its ugly head and that things aren't as rosy as communicated in the first place you get a feel that this leadership maybe isn't as great as they see themselves.
Part of the management has a history of military/police career aspirations maybe that's the reason for the top-down approach.
Interessante Aufgaben
If you are lucky, the management will give you interesting tasks on the internal technical side, all else depends on the customer and the leaderships' ego. They take every customer they can get (even the lousy ones who are left over on the market) and even if they tell you that you have a say in terms if you want to work with a customer: you don't.
Gleichberechtigung
I wouldn't recommend to females to get hired by this company. Very traditional gender biased attitude on who gets which task. Technical stuff is for the males and don't you ever show off any side skill since it will be exploited shamelessly. If you aren't a loyal subject in this matter they try to make you feel guilty about it.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
No colleagues over 40. Seasoned devs don't stay long.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Due to the customer and the leadership's ego. Lots of interviews with recruiters to get into a customer projects. They also work (desperately) with recruiting agencies to get people into their company.
People outside the company who I know personally also see that SSD's management approach is the biggest obstacle to increase the number of employees and make good employees stay.
Beware of the usage of the word 'family'. They do have family members in the company but unless you aren't related to them management should not expect family loyalty/family obligations from their employees.
Surprising expectations, they raise their levels of expectancy as they need it as if you are an all-purpose worktool.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
I don't know if there are eco friendly actions taken by the company. There is no office so you work from home office, when traveling to the customer this can vary.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
Neither compensates for the feeling of exploitation/obedience nor for the working conditions or lack of career development.
Image
They advertise themselves as something they aren't. They are as good as Schaafheim is Frankfurt at the Main. Put customer names on their front page that they barely work with. Some of the leadership work with long term customers from former employers.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
You are a resource to get money into a startup that tries to establish itself. You have to be self taught since they lack experienced resources for mentorship. If they set up a new technical tool/framework you can be lucky to be involved or not. Typical consultancy fake it till you make it approach faced to the customer when trying to get junior devs into a project.
