I went through five interviews and a detailed project assignment for what was initially introduced as a junior-level role, which seemed quite extensive for a startup. However, I was open to the process and successfully passed the case study round as well as interviews with my potential manager and the CGO. Surprisingly, I was rejected in the final panel interview.
The panel interview lasted 90 minutes, broken into three separate interviews with different department managers which all asked repetitive questions for 3 times during each interview.
The feedback I received afterward seemed misaligned with earlier discussions. One reason cited was my lack of "end-to-end event ownership," which was already clear from the first interview. If this was a key requirement, it could have been addressed much earlier in the process. Another reason given was that I "didn’t ask enough questions" in the final interview, which was interpreted as low engagement. However, I had already asked extensive questions in previous interviews and even gathered detailed insights, such as the 2025 budget for the department. When I asked about collaboration within the new event team, the managers themselves admitted that the structure was still being defined.
Overall, while the experience allowed me to learn more about the company, the process felt long, repetitive, and unclear in expectations. Candidates should be prepared for multiple rounds and ensure alignment on role expectations early in the process.
