Probably the biggest reason why I decided to return to parcelLab are the amazing colleagues and the team spirit! Everyone knows what they're doing, have interesting backgrounds and stories to share, and are always willing to take a minute out of their day to help you out!
We are a remote first company and you can work from anywhere you want! If you show the team that you are capable of doing your job you get to enjoy a lot of freedom as to how to achieve your results and how much time you have to spend on finishing your tasks. What matters are results, not time put in!
Our team consists of people from all walks of life, backgrounds and nations. Sales to this day is still dominated by men so would love to see a more even distribution in our team but our most recent hires were women, so I think we're on a good way here!
Every project is a unique challenge, trying to understand requirements and building the solution together. At the same time there's a lot going on to get better as a team, which means if you want to spend time working on that, you can, giving you a lot of variety throughout your week!
Young, engaged and supportive team, great off-site events where we can network and connect with colleagues from around the world, very international atmosphere, regardless in which city / country you live; many possibilities to bring in your ideas, thoughts and suggestions for improvement. If you are motivated, you can bring forward a lot of internal projects and initiatives.
There is a certain pressure of always performing since we are still a scale-up which can be stressful at times.
Keep on improving and taking the employee feedback seriously. This helps to build our trust and buy-in to parcelLab. Also, I would suggest to improve feedback cycles within teams and across teams (360-degree feedback), so people can really improve their work.
The atmosphere is super relaxed, open-minded and everyone can reach out to anyone in the company. I think this is one of the great advantages of working at parcelLab.
Usually we receive a positive feedback from customers / clients with regards to our product, team and services. Outside of the eCommerce sector, the company is not very known.
As we do not track our working hours, we are of course responsible ourselves to also track this and discuss with our team managers if it gets too much. There are peak times where it gets intense, but overall I would say I can balance my working and private life very well. Especially since we have flexible working hours. So, as long as you do your work and attend meetings where you're required, you can structure your working day as you wish. Whether you have to pick up children, have a doctor's appointment or just want to go for a walk during lunch time - all of this is usually possible without any problems.
There are options to progress your career and efforts to have a more structured performance review + growth process. The career opportunities are of course limited compared to a large enterprise. The training could still be a bit more fostered and supported if people ask for it.
Definitely great team work. Whenever you ask for help, someone will help you. Of course, since we are mostly working remotely, the help is going a lot through digital channels, but if you are fine with a-synchronous work, you will always find a helping hand. This is something I value very much of working at parcelLab.
Looking at it today, this has improved a lot in the past few months. I still think managers could receive more training in regards to people skills and being a good leader, but overall there is an attempt at getting the right people for the leading positions as parcelLab recognizes this has a high impact on whether employees are staying or not.
This is something that can be improved with regards to transparency from higher management. However, this has been addressed many times and I feel like the managers have heard this critique and try to improve it. So, I have seen a lot of positive progress with regards to open and transparent communication from management.
Can't complain
Since we are still a growing startup, the work I do today already changed compared to what I did one or two years ago. I still learn something new every day and still have the feeling there is more to come. So far, I did not get bored doing my weekly tasks. This is my overall feeling, of course there are also tasks you do not enjoy doing or that are repetitive. But that is not the majority of the work I do.
All the benefits I have, the flexibility, the opportunity to find exciting projects besides my day to day job, the regular off-sites in amazing locations like Madeira, Lanzarote or Barcelona, and the list goes on.
Keep listening to your employees.
There is a ton to mention here: For me personally I value the flexibility and freedom we have: I can decide when I'm working, from where I'm working but I could also live in Munich and go into the office on a daily basis.
There can be busy times when workload will be higher, which is not a surprise in sales and the same for all SaaS businesses.
Similar to the feedback on the communication, parcelLab's upper management listened to the feedback and has improved tremendously over the past year and introduced transparency when it comes to personal and professional development.
Candid feedback is appreciated all the time.
In the past, this hasn't been a core strength of parcelLab, the upper management has listened to the feedback and you can clearly see an improvement here.
I've been very pro-active when it comes to tasks besides the daily job, parcelLab appreciates this motivation and there is always more than enough to get involved in.
7 five star reviews in ONE month. Really??? They really think they are fooling people when it's so obvious that HR, or "The people crew" as they like to call themselves (cringe), is behind this. Rather than fixing their problems, they'd rather just delete negative reviews, and write fake positive ones.
Toxic and extremely chaotic
Hire and fire mentality. Because they are run by VC money and therefore so focused on "growth", they don't take the time to hire the right people or change their bad practices as long as it continues to generate money.
THE single worst aspect of this company. How management behaves is what makes this company so bad. You feel like you're just a tool and the minute your performance drops for whatever reason, they will not hesitate to drop you.
They do everything they can to remove or limit negative reviews. If you leave a negative review on other major job review platforms (you know which one I'm talking about), it is removed after a couple of days with no reason given as to why.
Work culture.
Expensive gatherings.
Some perks can be added to make it even better. More paid vacation. Better pension pay.
They have built a great work culture that makes a good atmosphere.
Environment-friendly and social activities are part of culture.
Very often there are company gatherings. There is also budget for each team for coming together.
This
top.
Even though its 100% remote there is a very good communication thanks to the protocols and the work culture.
We can very often define interesting tasks ourselves.
People are marvellous in parcelLab
Cool offsites, great and chill people
So verdient kununu Geld.
